KEY FACTS
By 1973, Lotus moved away from its kit-car origins and refocused on producing limited-series competition vehicles, transferring the manufacturing rights of the Seven to Caterham Cars in the UK and Steel Brothers Limited in New Zealand. Based in Christchurch, Steel Brothers assembled Lotus Seven Series 4 models using factory-supplied kits, completing production in March 1979 after the final of just 95 kits were built. The New Zealand cars were notably well specified, offering a broader range of factory options than their UK counterparts, including improved interior trim and hardtops, along with competition-focused upgrades such as engine enhancements, close-ratio gearboxes and adjustable suspension. Popular with local racers, these cars enjoyed considerable success in New Zealand motorsport. With licensed production ending in 1979, the final Lotus-badged Seven, a Series 4, was produced in New Zealand, marking the end of an iconic chapter in Lotus history.
This well used example raced in New Zealand between 1993 and 2004, before being purchased by Bob in late 2006 for around $25,000 and then brought to Australia. The Lotus featured on the cover of the English Lotus 7 magazine, and since being in Australia has held full NSW registration with a large amount of documentation still included, which includes import approvals. Features include: Block marked 681F, Twin carbi Brevettato - 45DCOE13, Roll over protection, battery in boot, ERG 4 point harness, OMP passenger 4 point harness, MOUNTNEY steering wheel, Battery isolation, 13 inch lightweight wheels, Disc brake front and drum rear, tonneau covers, standard windscreen and more.
This is a very rare car with collectors internationally, making this ideal for restoration and club runs, or a simple repair ready for hillclimb and track days.

Courier Collections: Items cannot be returned to our warehouse. However, couriers are welcome to collect on your behalf. Please provide written approval and courier details to auctions@allbids.com.au in advance.
