To compete against the successful Ford Fairlane, the Brougham was introduced as the large luxury model in the Holden range. The Brougham was based on the flagship Premier, and would see the boot stretched out rather than a redesign with a new chassis and wheelbase and was offered only in a automatic V8 pairing. Unfortunately the Brougham wasn't a huge success and was phased out after a short few years to be replaced by the new Statesman. Now a rare and sought after model, these can be few and far between, making this example a great base for restoration or a street machine build.
This example has been sitting inland in west NSW on a property for some time and will require restoration work inside out to get it back on the road. The car has suffered from rust, primarily in the lower areas of the car and the boot floor. The 5.0-litre V8 turns over and cranks but has not been tested further, and this is backed by a 2-speed powerglide automatic gearbox. The HK appears complete both inside out, with the interior being weathered from sitting for so long. The car appears to have had a vinyl top at some stage, however this has worn away.
