The
Holden
Monaro is a car that will always be a part of Australian Motor History.
With
hues from the American Muscle cars of the same generation, the Monaro
was
a proper muscle car that Australia could call their own. 1971 was the
year the HQ series would be released, introducing the whole new body
design from the previous Monaro. The LS or "Luxury Sports" was
introduced as a new trim line for the Monaro series and shared trims
with the Premier sedan.
This particular 1973 example was a factory 308ci V8 LS Monaro, which has now been fitted with a mild Gen 3 LS1 5.7-litre V8 and matching 4L60E automatic gearbox and GTS styling. The Monaro has power steering and electronic fuel injection, making for modern daily driving simplicity in a classic. Air conditioning has been fitted but has not been plumbed in, oil and temp gauges have also yet to be wired up. 3.08 differential and disc brake rear end is fitted. The car has been local to the Canberra region for many years, and was very close to being completely rust free before the restoration was done.
The car speaks for itself, significant work has been completed in all aspects to create an easy to enjoy and modern take on the Aussie Classic, finished in an eye catching GTS style finish with bright yellow paint, black stripes, and a cream interior.
