Rare 164 E Volvo, great entry level classic!

The Volvo 164 was produced between 1968 and 1975 as the Swedish manufacturers first dive into the luxury car market since 1950 after the demise of the Volvo PV60. The 164 stepped away from the 4-cylinder power-plant often fitted across the range and instead came with a 3.0-litre six cylinder that produced 160hp. True to Volvo's famous industry leading focus on safety the 164 came with some incredible detail and technology for the time to emphasise this. The 164 came with 4 wheel disc brakes with a valved system that kicked in if a brake was to fail, pushing the other brakes to make up for some of the loss. The system also ran circuits to prevent rear wheels from locking up before the front wheels in emergency braking scenarios. Other safety features included backrests that collapsed in a rear collision to reduce neck injuries, energy-absorbing dashboard and more.
This 164 is a great find for any entry level classic car collector or Volvo enthusiast. The car is a complete, running example that has been sitting on a property in inland west NSW and hasn't seen much use in recent years but seems to be a fairly solid example. Overall this is a great weekend project, club car or easily enjoyable classic on a budget that will be certain to demand attention. 164's can be difficult to find and this would be a great opportunity to get into one that appears to be solid and complete.
