The Holden Commodore VK Group 3 is a high spec and highly desirable car with only 200 approximately ever produced, and only 40 in Asteroid Silver. Like many generations of Commodores these low production and rare models have become incredibly sought after by collectors and finding opportunities such as this are very rare. The previous generation VH Commodore offered a Group 1, 2, and 3 trim level by HDT with most customers opting for the top spec Group 3, this lead to the next generation VK only being offered in full HDT Group 3 trim. The Group 3 trim on the VK would see an array of features inside and out, eliminating any chance of the HDT being confused with any other model. These features included new bumpers, new spoiler, bonnet bulge, Aero wheels, 4-speed manual gearbox, LSD diff, Scheel seats with Herringbone and velour trims, special stereo, steering wheel and shifter.

This Asteroid Silver HDT Group 3 is a great base for a restoration or if you dare even a street build genuine HDT. The car was originally sold new in Canberra by Beazley & Bruce in 1984 as build number #1440 as shown on the original certificate included. The car was delivered to HDT on the 25/09/1984 and left HDT on the 14/11/1984 with an invoice totaling $4,940. The original HDT inspection certificate is included as is the original Holden Production sheet and letter to the owner of #1440 signed by Peter Brock.

The car is pulled apart and ready for restoration and includes an array of spares and original parts. Unfortunately this car was stolen and recovered in its lifetime and therefore has an updated VIN and is missing the matching numbers engine, however the tags, certificates and other parts were fortunately recovered. Another 308 V8 engine is included in the sale, as is the original HDT 16" Aero wheels, HDT Group 3 stereo, HDT Group 3 shifter knob, HDT steering wheel, fuel tank, wiring, M21 gearbox with remote shifter, extractors, engine pieces, trim pieces, new headlights and indicators and more. The interior appears complete less the roof lining but would require a re-trim on the original Sheel seats.
