Rare Ford Anglia Tourer with an A12 Datsun engine

While heavily based off its European counterpart the Australian produced Ford Anglia A494A showed some notable differences in both the body styling and the models offered. When the A494A went on sale in Australia in 1949 the Tourer model, as offered here today, was the cheapest new car available in Australia. Rough build numbers of these Australian produced Anglia's are unknown, however these have now become very difficult to find on offer in any condition, let alone a great base like this one.
This A494A is an Australian produced Tourer model, and would make an ideal base for a simple restoration or restomod. The car while showing ample signs of surface rust, shows little to no signs of deep rust although further inspections are highly recommended. The interior appears complete and in decent order, as does the vinyl roof, however the side clip in windows do not appear to be with the vehicle. The Datsun 1.2L A12 engine fits nicely and is a large jump in displacement and power over the original 933cc 8hp engine that the car would have originally had fitted. This engine is not in running order as the car has sat for some time however the engine does turn and appears to be in decent order. This Anglia is a rare find, especially as an Australian produced model and would be an ideal platform for an electric conversion or an entry level and simple to restore classic.
