The Skyline GT-R or “Gran Turismo Racer” is the top of the line sports version of the Skyline range and was introduced in 1969 on the first generation KPGC10 Skylines. The GT-R nameplate died in 1973 and wasn’t to be brought back until 1989 where it was re-introduced on the third generation or as it is most commonly known as, the R32.

Group A racing was introduced in 1982 and had taken the world by storm, pushing Nissan to create the R32 GT-R, and when it was finally created in 1989 it changed motor racing. The car was given its famous name of “Godzilla” by Wheels Magazine due to its technology and performance, a name that would carry on through the R32, R33 and R34 generations.In 1995 in Japan, Nissan ran a television commercial called the "Minus 21-second Dream". It showed the R33 GT-R running the Nürburgring 21 seconds faster than the previous R32. That made it the world’s first production car to crack the 8-minute barrier!
