UPDATED DESCRIPTION
Number stamped on chassis is different from plate on the door. This Galaxie has held full NSW and Historic NSW registation. The number on the paperwork is 5G690196638 the same as the chassis. It appears the car may have had a body swap done at some stage during it's life both numbers are clear from any issues. Please do your own checks to make sure your happy with the vehicle prior to bidding.
1965 saw the introduction of the new and improved third-generation
Ford Galaxie with the top trim level now called the 500 XL. The leaf
suspension from the previous-gen was dropped and a new and improved coil
sprung three-link system was fitted for a better handling and
comfortable drive.
This 1965 Galaxie is a top spec 500XL with
a factory fitted 390ci 6.4-litre V8 and 3-speed automatic transmission
all wrapped into a convertible package. The car was factory finished in
an ideal combination of vibrant red paint with a white top and a full
red interior to finish the style.
Although
requiring some work to be 100% this Galaxie is still a classic to be
enjoyed. The factory roof does have some holes that have been patched as
well as the motors removed, however the roof does operate manually
without issue. A cover for the roof when folded down is included as seen
in the images, and clips on without hassle. The 390ci V8 sounds
fantastic and the automatic trans creates a pleasurable drive. The car
was driven to us from rural NSW however we have noted a leak from the
carburetor of fuel so towing is recommended to be safe.
