Inspired by the sports sedans of Europe, the Datsun 1600 in Australian terms, is arguably the most recognisable sports sedan of its era. With a 1600cc overhead cam engine and four wheel independent suspension, this vehicle enjoyed rally success outside of Japan and paved the way for sales success internationally. The Datsun 1600 is sought after by rally enthusiasts, Datsun fanatics and collectors alike, and this vehicle lends itself to a perfect restoration project for those seeking to revive this pocket rocket to its former glory.
This example has been sitting inland in west NSW since approximately 2001 and indicates 77,074 Miles on the odometer. Despite being weathered the car appears to be complete and the motor does turn, although attempts have not been made to start the car. The L16 engine is backed my a manual gearbox, and all the driveline appears to be in complete order as well. The 1600 Deluxe has suffered rust in numerous areas throughout the body, although key areas appear to be solid. As always with cars of this nature, inspections are highly recommended so that the car meets your expectations.
