Rare Australian delivered Mk1 Golf Diesel

Introduced as a replacement for the long running and iconic Beetle and designed by the famed Giorgetto Giugiaro from Italdesign, the Mk1 Golf was a large step in a new direction for Volkswagen. Traditionally manufacturing rear mounted air cooled engines and rear wheel drive cars, the Golf was a mass produced front wheel drive and water cooled small family car. Production began in 1974 and would primarily be produced until 1983, however these would be produced in South Africa up until 2009. 

This Australian delivered Mk1 diesel has traveled an indicated 327,855ks since new. The Golf has been sitting on a property in inland west NSW for some time, however appears to be fairly solid and complete. There is some surface rust surrounding the car that will require attention, but doesn't show too many signs of major rust except for some small areas in the lower sills. The engine does turn over but has not been started so we have not been able to test further.
