Land Rover Series 2a with Fairey Overdrive
1966 CKD build, 1967 registered
Complete ground up restoration completed in 2020
- Research indicates matching chassis, engine and transmission serial numbers
Complete body and suspension rebuild Including;
- Front and rear Axle bearings and seals
- Chassis and bulkhead sandblast and restoration
- Bulkhead driver and passenger floors replaced
- Steering box and relay rebuild
- New suspension components – reused front leaf springs – rear springs off Series III
- Brake drums all machined
- Complete Brake system replacement inc lines, shoes and pistons
- All panels, doors and tub restored including door window slides and seals
- 2 pack automotive paint used throughout – not a concourse restoration
Complete motor and transmission rebuild – Machining completed by Phillip Heads Canberra, all parts after-market from UK and Aus suppliers including;
- Head cleaned and machined
- New valves and valve guides
- Block cleaned and machined
- New 30” oversize pistons and rings
- New bearings throughout including cam shaft
- Fuel Pump rebuild
- Flywheel machined
- New clutch and pressure plate
- New Water pump
- Transmission overhaul and bearing kit installed
- Carburettor overhaul and rebuild kit installed
- AccuSpark Electronic ignition fitted
- Original Radiator pressure tested and fitted
Fairey overdrive sourced 2nd hand and installed
Disclaimer – Overdrive has issues – Working but noisy when engaged. Looks to have been “run dry” by previous owner. Requires new Lay gear and Output gear from.
