After the massive success of the Mustang in the US, Ford in Europe designed its own sports coupe using most of the drive-line from the already popular Cortina. Ford Australia assembled Capris at Homebush in Sydney and dropped the 1600 GT in February 1970 but continued to offer a virtually identical XL until local production ceased in November 1972. The Capri was a solid motorsport competitor too, with significant success in both rally and track racing..
This Capri 1600 Deluxe would be suitable for parts only and has taken a significant impact to the front. Compared to the others this example appears quite solid with minimal rust, primarily showing in the lower areas.
